How participation works

ICE gives viewers a simple language for the puzzle grid.

ICE stands for Interactive Coordinate Edition. The letters and numbers around the puzzle grid let viewers call out an exact location, so we can understand where they see a word without being in the same room.

Why ICE exists

It started as a practical solution on our LIVE streams.

Before we published ICE editions, we physically wrote coordinates onto every puzzle we used on LIVE. We needed a fast, easy way for viewers to tell us exactly where they saw a word.

ICE simply builds that useful feature into the physical book. The same idea can help couples, families, groups, classrooms, or anyone who wants another person to participate without pointing at the page.
